Effects of Methyl cellulose for building on cement based mortarare widely used to improve the performance of hydrogel construction materials such as cement and gypsum. In cement-based mortar, it can increase water retention, and to extend the opening and correcting hours and reduce sagging.

Water retentionMethyl cellulose avoids the water infiltrating the wall. A certain amount of water remaining in the mortar, spare cement a longer time for hydration, water retention is proportional to the viscosity of cellulose ether in the mortar, the higher of viscosity, the better of water retention. Once the moisture factor increase, the water retention will decrease. Because of the same amount of methyl cellulose solution, the increased water cause the viscosity decline. Increasing water retention would lead to extend the curing time of constructed mortar.

Reducing viscosity and improving the construction For cement mortar, we have developed a special grade of methyl cellulose .They can improve the construction of mortar, and reduce the viscosity. The lower viscosity grades used, the lower viscosity of mortar, so obtained better construction. However, because of the low water retentivity, more low viscosity grade 

products are needed.

Wetting ability

All air entraining agent has the role of wetting ability to reduce its surface tension and help the powder in mortar disperse when mixed with water. 

Sag Resistance

Good sag resistance mortar to the thick layer construction means the construction of mortar without sagging or the danger of down flow. Cellulose can improve sag resistance, especially the newly developed methyl cellulose can provide a better sag resistance of mortar.


Bubble contentHigh bubble content results a better rate of output and construction of mortar and reduce cracking. It also cuts down the intensity value, causes a "liquid" phenomenon. Bubble content usually depends on the mixing time.
